Expedition 51

This circuit is designed for those who love the great outdoors and long road adventures. Spanning 1,700 km, it requires at least 26 hours of driving. The route begins in Baie-Comeau on Route 389, crosses Fermont, then explores Labrador from west to east via Routes 500 and 510, before heading down to the Lower North Shore, ending in Blanc-Sablon.

Once you arrive in Blanc-Sablon, you can complete your trip by taking the N/M Bella Desgagnés, a ship that supplies the coastal villages of the Lower North Shore, accessible only by sea. From the deck, you will admire 500 km of coastline for 25 hours, with several stops along the way. When you arrive in Kegaska (or Natashquan), you will find Route 138. You will then have 650 km to travel in 8 hours, along the north shore of the St. Lawrence, to return to Baie-Comeau. Alternatively, you can continue the adventure by taking a ferry from Blanc-Sablon to the island of Newfoundland.

Uapishka station

Located at the foot of the Uapishka (Groulx) mountains and on the shores of the Manicouagan crater lake, the Uapishka Station takes advantage of the exceptional surrounding characteristics to offer accommodation, catering and outdoor activity services, as well as logistical support associated with scientific activities.

Concerned about preserving Innu culture and values, the Station staff shares them sincerely with visitors so that they leave with a better understanding of this age-old heritage.

Thanks to its location north of the 51st parallel, Uapishka Station is the ideal place to live a true Nordic experience while learning about the richness of indigenous heritage.
